40 Days In His Presence Friday, March 21, 2014 Day 19 Isa 26:3 AMP You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. (Read also Philippians 4:6-9) What is the peace of God? Peace is the calm assurance that God has everything in His hand and that it will work out according to His will and our faith. It could also be defined by saying you do not accept and give yourself over to fear or panic. Someone asked me once how you would recognize the peace of God. My answer to that has always been simple, “you either have it or you don’t. If you have it, you know it and if you don’t have it you know it. When Jesus and His disciples were in a boat a great storm arose and was filling the boat. Jesus was asleep and the disciples became fearful and was a little put out that he was asleep while they were about to be shipwrecked. He asked why they were so fearful or timid; do you not have trust in the Lord? (Mk. 4:36-40) Jesus portrayed total peace as slept, just like the peace He had when He went to the cross. He knew His Father had it all in hand. The mind is a key player when it comes to having peace. Real peace is out of the spirit and heart but it is demonstrated thru our minds. It is not mind over matter as some would have us think. When the mind is renewed with God’s word and we allow the Word in our mind to have first place then peace will be present. If we let fear, worry, and panic have first place then we will not have peace. Peace cannot be forced upon anyone it has to be their decision, a commitment of their will to follow God’s word and allow it to work for them. Real peace then is not superficial or denial that a problem exist. We must realize that the problem and the facts indicate the seriousness of it. However, facts change as new evidence comes in view. The evidence that we have is that Jesus made the difference in what is known as the great exchange. Heaven for hell, divine health for sickness and disease, peace for confusion, honor for shame, and heaven’s wealth for our poverty. Without that exchange we would be helpless when it comes to facing our problems. I have the assurance through His Word and experience that God always backs up what He says. Father, today I want to thank you for your peace. In times of trouble I know you are ever present to keep me safe. Forgive for the times that I have worried, been afraid, and anxious about things the enemy tries to do to get my attention away from You and Your ability to keep me. In Jesus name, Amen.
