40th Annual Wheatland Music Festival Performers: LA BOTTINE SOURIANTE La Bottine Souriate performs a French-Canadian seated dance in the video below -- In the past, dancing was forbidden in much of French Canada by the Catholic clergy, and so became the "seated" dancing which we have seen performed by many traditional French Canadian groups who have graced the Main Stage in Wheatlands past. La Bottine Souriante is known as a constant in the French Canadian music scene. First formed in 1975 with an assembly of traditional French Canadian instruments, they have expanded over the years to incorporate many non-traditional instruments to create their own unique French Canadian/world-music genre. If they can sound this good without picking up an instrument, singing a note, or even getting out of their chairs we are in for some memorable performances by our neighbors of the North, La Bottine Souriante!: Saturday: Centennial Stage 3:00-4:00PM Trans Canadian Highway (members of La Bottine & The Duhks) Main Stage 10:10-11:00PM Sunday: Main Stage 5:20-6:10PM
