#4158 Infosys attrition has hit 19.5% while the industry avg is 15%. Some explorable reasons: The company still looks like the representer of the founders interest/imposition of founders rule. In NRNs time( when he was in college,early business days) a formal attire with TIE was most common in corporate situations. But times have changed now with total informal wears in companies like google. Still Infosys wants to represent NRNs tastes onto the employees without any reason/logic, asking an employee to wear a TIE and write code! Cognizant allows casuals I guess! Locations: Infosys is located in very faraway places(Mcity-avg of 50 Kms from city, shols-avg of 30 kms from city, Elec city and so on) This again is that they want to have a big campus(Well and good!) But main reason is they get areas at cheaper lease rates in far away towns. They can save more of their profits. Also if they have all buildings in the same location, they get economies of scale in terms of food, facilities(maintinance electricity etc). Cognizant, HCL, TCS have small buildings spread over OMR starting from Perungudi, Velachery, Thoraipakkam, Tambaram, navalorr. Most of these areas are closer to the city comparatively. These companies are not much worried about cheaper lease rates would eat up their profits or so. They are more concerned about employee health issue due to travelling.A person spending 4 hours in travel alone(due to frustration) daily is BOUND to QUIT Infy! People from outside city who stay in nearby areas get bored out of hell staying in some no mans land where everything is in developing phase. To get to some pub/discos, good theatres they would need to travel for half a day! Flexibility of transport-Buses reaching the campus at 8 AM, So employee should board the bus at 6:30 or so and he should wake up by GOD know when(5..5:30 Am or so!). Even companies in the city itself are staring at 9.You keep the company in some village and expect people to arrive at 8..looks more funny! Maintain an avg of 9 hours!? Well, does a person in bench needs to do so?Even if a person in bench does so, he would be roaming in the FC(normally)/gym/swimming pool(after 5 PM). So instead,why not he be allowed to go home? Do you think by making them clock 9 hours they would use it up for learning/mastering a technology?If so, do you have any person to check on that? -girl
