44 yrs ago today I walked into a small church in Pontiac and married a 17 yr old girl whom a lot of people thought was pregnant. She wasnt I was 18 and in the Army. The Viet-Nam war was going on so some thought we were crazy. I took her back to Fort Bragg N.C. with me and we struggled. Two teenagers with just each other in another state trying to survive. No parents or family near by to turn to. We walked everywhere we went. A few months later she did get preg. A couple of months after that the Army decided to send me over to Nam so someone else could come home. We wasnt sure what our future held for us. My first son was born while I was over there. Well I was one of the lucky ones and when I came home he was 6 mos old. We were a family again. We went on to have two more boys, buy a few houses and we did ok. We had our fights and even almost called it quits. But we didnt. We stayed married for 40 yrs til the day she passed. I do believe it was our early struggles that kept us together. I also believe the school of hard knocks can teach U more about love and respect than any book could. Im not saying this because Im lonely or sad and want some sympathy. Im not and I dont. I just want some of todays generation to read this and stop and think__________Nuff Said________. Happy Anniversary Babe. I still Love U and always will. R.I.P.
