45 years ago...one of the most powerful hurricanes ever to strike the US struck the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Hurricane #Camille will forever be remembered as one of the true benchmark Gulf Coast hurricanes, along with Katrina, Ivan and Frederic. Few have surpassed its strength and likely few ever will. This is a film I saw as a child and was one of two movies (the other called Terrible Tuesday about the 1979 Wichita Falls TX tornado) that helped inspire me to pursue meteorology as a career.
