The local news channels would of course not let such important incidents slip by uncovered so hundreds of hungry assamese residents sat glued this morning in front of their t.vs as they licked their lips and rubbed theur bellies to our youths throwing tomatoes at each other, as the camera kept focusing on the crushed bilahi bits all over everywhere. With tomato prices leaping upto an estimated 80rs per kg and the tomato loving axomiya raij resorting to putting ketchup in their masor tenga juls, many wondered if a jackfruit festival might not have been more practical. 2) Taking an important leap in the womens lib movement, the govt. inagurated six ladies city buses in the city week before last. The buses were to be exclusively for female passengers with even female conducters, for obvious reasons. Everyone was happy until the buses had to shut down because nobody was getting up on them. Our assamese ladies, confident of their assured seats on the left side of regular buses and their ability to make a few right side males give up their seats too, did not seem to feel the need to wait for their alloted six buses in this city of over 300 buses and a bus every 5-15 mins. Four of those six buses are however running again on a few educated and highly patient ladies. Male
