#5 At some point, my dad bought me a little portable AM radio which had an earpiece that you could shove into one ear to listen to things in private. My parents were pretty conservative and didnt like regular music radio, although there was an oldies station in Eugene that played the greatest hits from the 30s, 40s and 50s that I was allowed to listen to. Being the good child that I was, I immediately stuck the earpiece in my ear and went looking for something that wasnt the best of the 30s, 40s and 50s, stumbling across the local Top 40 station. The 70s were not a great time for any music other than rock... and even a lot of that was pure dreck. That didnt stop me from quickly finding the devils music and wallowing in its rebellious glory. When Rhinestone Cowboy came wafting into my one ear as it blared from the magical AM Top 40 station, I was immediately hooked on the rock-n-roll.
