5. The Helmet of salvation The most often targeted part of our body during combat/battle, is the head. The enemies of our soul attack our head, and each does so in a different way, which well get to specify in a minute. The Lord provides the helmet to protect the believers head. The helmet is called of salvation, not because wearing it will save, (just as in the case of the shield of faith, the faith was not saving faith, but rather, faith in God as a whole) here again, of salvation speaks of having the mind of one who has been saved, possessing the frame of mind, the worldview of a child of God, the discernment of a gifted born again believer. By wearing the helmet of salvation, the Christian believers mind is protected against the dangerous blows to the head. The devil attacks the head by creating doubts in the believer, about his/her salvation, thus, opening a gate to all kinds of temptations which could lure the believer to fall into sin. He also uses false teachers, false prophets to lead believers astray through false doctrines... The world attacks the head with depraved peer pressure, political correctness worldly pressure, workplace ungodly policy pressure, school/college/university anti-God teachings pressure, unbiblical opinion from media pressure... The flesh attacks the head with pity parties to get its lusts satisfied. Thousands upon thousands of thoughts such as everybody does that every day, whats wrong, if you do it just today?! Very crafty and dangerous false thinking... So, while the helmet of salvation is on, all those temptations are resisted against, rejected, fought, as they fail to develop unto sin. Thats what the helmet of salvation does for the obedient child, the faithful servant, the made-strong soldier, and the saved sinner.
