5 things people wish they’d known in their 20s Many people consider their 20s to be the most profound years of their lives. The young, spiritual and adventurous traits of one’s 20s enable individuals to go for anything. However, as much as they enjoy the years, there is just as much regret. But regretting what has already been done is of no use. Thus, the Huffington Post gave five pieces of advice that people wish they had known in their 20s. 1. Do not compare yourself to others. Follow your heart rather than following the crowd. People around the world have different environments and personalities. Therefore, it is natural to be different from one another. Life is not a competition: It is something to be enjoyed by one’s own will. 2. Not everything has to be “figured out.” People in their 20s often stress about so many questions in their lives. These questions include “What am I going to do after college?” “Am I going down the right path?” or “Is my major what I really want to study?” The stress doubles with the pressure from peers and family members. The truth is, the things they worry about in their 20s are things that will never be figured out anyhow. The constant wonders in life are actually what makes it fun and adventurous. 3. Know your value. People in their 20s sometimes discourage themselves from challenges as being too big to face. However, people all have their special abilities. Thus, it is important to be bold and go for anything, which will lead to finding and owning their unique talents. 4. Everyone is beautiful. Do not try to adhere to stereotypical beauty. Everyone has their own beautiful traits in their appearances. Instead of following others’ standards, it’s better to rock with the beauty that they already have. 5. Enjoy being in love, but do not put everything on it. Falling in love is one of the sweetest things people can do in their 20s. Of course, people should enjoy the moment as much as possible. Nonetheless, they should realize that it is not the only thing that matters in the world. Know that love can always break apart or twist the other way. When that happens, do not hold on to something that has already been destroyed. Instead, take those lessons and move on. By Kim Min-jin, Intern reporter (minjin103@heraldcorp)
