5 years ago, I gave birth to a miracle. At 18, I was told that I could never have another child, due to health issues. Ive had 6 viable pregnancies, and only carried two children to term. In 2008, I found out I was pregnant, and we were overjoyed! 3 months later, we lost the baby. In 2009, I found out that I was pregnant again. Neither of us could really get excited, because it was a waiting game at that point. We had a rough 3 months. At 5 months, I almost lost my baby. Nerves stretched to the breaking point, and weekly Dr appts, saw me through the long haul. On Sept 11th, 2009, I gave birth to my miracle. A beautiful 6 pound 11 oz miracle. On a day, when so many terrible things happened years before, I was given a shining light. Both of my daughters are a blessing to me. Both unique, both creative, both perfect in their imperfections, both beautiful. So many things have gone wrong, and yet, so MANY things have gone right. Laila beat all of the odds. She made it to term. She lived through a terrible infection at only a few weeks old, when the Dr told me she wouldnt. She walked, when I was told she wouldnt be able to, unassisted. She spoke, even though I was told she could have brain damage from her infection. Today, my baby is 5. My blessing. My miracle. Shes overcome so many obstacles at such a young age, and everyday is a new surprise. Ive done many great things in this life, but my greatest role has been being a mother to my children.
