5089 Cases settled in Lok Adalat; Rs 5.12 Cr Awarded Kathua, dec 06: Lok Adalat was organised at District Headquarters Kathua and also at Bani, Basohli, Billawar and Hiranagar. Six benches were constituted at Kathua which disposed of around 3515 cases while 5089 cases were decided all over the district. District Magistrate Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Principal District & Sessions judge Vinod Chatterjee Koul and SSP Kathua Pawan Parihar decided 1004 cases pending relief cases of years 2012-13, 2013-14 and awarded an amount of Rs 28.10 Lakhs. The bench also settled 1028 MGNREGA works cases and awarded claims worth Rs 4.58 Cr. The DC issued instructions to Rural Development Department and Revenue Department to project the financial demands to administrative departments for immediate release of funds. ADDC N S Bali, Addl SP Nasir Ahmed, ACD Tilak Raj and other senior officers of district administration were also present. More than 1000 cases of MACT, HMA, Recovery Suits, Civil Cases, Traffic Cases, Municipality and Labour cases were settled by benches comprised of Sonia Gupta Addl Sessions Judge, Deepak Sethi CJM, Sunil Sangra Mobile Magistrate, Renu Dogra Munsiff JMIC, Dinesh Gupta Mobile Magistrates, Tehsildar Kathua, and advocates Dushyant Jandyal, Balbir Singh, Neelam Sharma, Sushil Gupta, Arvind Gupta, Y C Katoch and Sourav Mahajan. District & Sessions Judge also supervised civil cases proceedings in various benches. Likewise, Lok Adalatas were held at sub-divisional criminal and civil court s where around 1500 cases were decided. Around 1280 cases were decided by tehsil headquarters.
