6/1/2014 - 11:25 am ET/10:25 am CT: As was mentioned almost a week ago, it looks like we may have some sort of tropical development in the area of the Bay of Campeche between about Wednesday and Saturday of this week. Once this system does form, it may hang around in the Bay of Campeche for at least a few days late this week through next weekend where it could strengthen into a tropical depression and then possibly a tropical storm. This means that the Yucatan Peninsula, Belize, Guatemala and western Cuba may see a lot of rain with flood issues this week into early next week with amounts of up to 10 inches and perhaps more possible. It is way too premature to determine whether the US Gulf Coast or the Bahamas will be impacted by whatever forms in the Bay of Campeche.
