TODAY: 2Chr 4; 1Kgs 7 Or READ BIBLE in one year (AM New Testament; PM Old Testament) TODAY: Morning John 20; Evening Ezra 3, 4, 5 NKJV (Preaching) Mark 16:15, 16 Mark 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:16 “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. (Mickelsons Enhanced Strongs Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries, 2008) PREACH G2784 κηρύσσω kerusso (kay-roos-so) v. 1. to herald (as a public crier), especially divine truth (the gospel) [of uncertain affinity] KJV: preacher(-er), proclaim, publish (NKJV The MacArthur Study Bible © 1997 by John MacArthur, pg. 2154) MARK “16:15, 16. Similar to Matthew account of the Great Commission, with the added contrast of those who have been baptized (believers) with those who refuse to believe and are condemned. Even if v.16 is a genuine part of Mark’s gospel, it does not teach that baptism saves, since the lost are condemned for unbelief, not for being baptized (see note on Acts 2:38),” (Matthew Henrys Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible, 1706) MARK 16: “14-18 The evidences of the truth of the gospel are so full, that those who receive it not, may justly be upbraided with their unbelief. Our blessed Lord renewed his choice of the eleven as his apostles, and commissioned them to go into all the world, to preach his gospel to every creature. Only he that is a true Christian shall be saved through Christ. Simon Magus professed to believe, and was baptized, yet he was declared to be in the bonds of iniquity: see his history in Acts 8:13-25. Doubtless this is a solemn declaration of that true faith which receives Christ in all his characters and offices, and for all the purposes of salvation, and which produces its right effect on the heart and life; not a mere assent, which is a dead faith, and cannot profit. The commission of Christs ministers extends to every creature throughout the world, and the declarations of the gospel contain not only truths, encouragements, and precepts, but also most awful warnings. Observe what power the apostles should be endued with, for confirming the doctrine they were to preach. These were miracles to confirm the truth of the gospel, and means of spreading the gospel among nations that had not heard it.” (JFB, Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible, 1871) MARK 16: “16. He that believeth and is baptized—Baptism is here put for the external signature of the inner faith of the heart, just as confessing with the mouth is in Ro 10:10; and there also as here this outward manifestation, once mentioned as the proper fruit of faith, is not repeated in what follows (Ro 10:11). shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned—These awful issues of the reception or rejection of the Gospel, though often recorded in other connections, are given in this connection only by Mark.” If you would like to start developing a relationship with Jesus Christ click the Manzanita Baptist Church’s Web Page link bellow. manzanitabaptist.org/ John 3:16 Num. 6:24-26
