6 222 Email Comment Print The Buffalo Sabres and the Telly Awards have announced that “Beyond Blue & Gold,” a video series that takes fans behind the scenes of the Sabres organization, has won seven 2014 Telly Awards. The series, which won three Telly Awards in 2013, took home four silver and three bronze awards in 2014 for seven episodes that spanned the series’ first and second seasons. “Beyond Blue & Gold” is an in-depth look at the Buffalo Sabres organization that includes behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the team’s players, coaches and front office personnel. Cameras have been following the team since before the 2012-13 NHL season and have captured important moments including the NHL Entry Draft, rookie development camps, management transitions, player profiles and backstories, team road trips and special events held by the organization. The first season of “Beyond Blue & Gold” premiered in the fall of 2012 and featured 13 episodes that spanned the entire 2012-13 Sabres season, while the second season, which covers the offseason and 2013-14 NHL season, currently features 14 episodes. The series airs regularly on MSG Network and NHL Network, as well as on the team’s website, Sabres. The Buffalo Sabres and “Beyond Blue & Gold” join other prominent sports and entertainment companies as Telly Award winners in 2014 including: ESPN, BET Networks, Fox Sports West/Prime Ticket, E! Entertainment, NBC Universal, HBO Latin America, CBS Interactive, Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures Television. With nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries each year, fewer than 10 percent of entries are chosen as winners of the Silver Telly, the highest honor, and approximately 25 percent of entries are chosen as winners of the Bronze Telly. The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
