6 OCLOCK NEWS RECAP WITH Orange Pope Francis has expressed willingness to come to Uganda to officiate at the 50th anniversary of the canonization of the Uganda Martyrs at Namugongo next year. The Pope was today meeting President Yoweri Museveni at his office at the Papal building in the Vatican. Meanwhile, the decision by Kamuli district Chairperson Salaam Musumba to travel with president Museveni to Rome is likely to cause a storm with in the opposition Forum for Democratic Change. Musumba who represented local government leaders is part of the delegation that is currently in Rome with the president where they met Pope Francis today. ………………………….. The Uganda Bureau of Statistics has today started enumerating people who missed the national census exercise in August. The bureau’s director of social economic surveys James Muwonge says the exercise runs from today until November 5th in eleven districts. He says UBOS has decided to carry out post census enumeration exercise because many people especially those living in urban areas had missed out. ………………………………….. Doris Akol, Commissioner for Legal and Board Affairs at URA has been appointed new Commissioner General. The appointement by finance minister follows the retirement of Ms Allen Kagina who retired as URA commissioner general, to private business. Mrs Allem Kagina retired after serving URA for 10 years and is remembered for reforming the tax body that had formerly renowned for corruption. Doris Akol, now takes over all duties and responsibilities that were being executed by Allen Kagina. ……………………………….. Government has apologized to Forum for democratic change woman league over an incident in which she was manhandled by the police in 2012. On April 20th 2012, Ingrid was assaulted by a male police man who squeezed her Left breast and had her car vandalized by the police as she drove to an opposition political rally in Nansana. ………………………………… Police have vowed to continue the DUI operation in order to catch drunken drivers who on several occasions lead to the deaths of several other road users. Over 67 drivers are appearing in court today after being arrested for drink and driving on Saturday night. Among those arrested is a UPDF soldier Lawrence Tulyatunda who locked himself inside the car with his gun as he resisted arrest. This forced police to bring breakdown towing him and his car to Wandegeya Police station. …………………………………..
