6 years ago today, #4 ranked contender Antonio Margarito (37-5) beat undefeated WBA Welterweight Champion Miguel Cotto (32-1) by 11th round TKO. Cotto started well but Margarito wore him down. Miguel was floored by a left uppercut then right uppercut and cross. After the 2nd knockdown, trainer and uncle Evangelista Cotto threw in the towel. Official stoppage time was 2:05 of Round 11. The bout would live in infamy, as Margarito would later get caught using illegal hand wraps. Cotto would gain sweet revenge in their 2011 rematch, winning by 10th round TKO. Whether Antonio Margarito always cheated or simply beat Cotto remains open for debate to this very day. #boxing
