69 years ago today the Allies opened a third front in the war against Nazi Germany. While we honor the sacrifices made by Americans that day, we must also recognize that Canadian, British, and French soldiers also gave their lives. This action hastened the end to the war in Europe, a war that was being won on the Eastern Front by the blood and sheer determination of the Soviet Union. Moreover, this action may have prevented complete Soviet dominion over most of Europe. We must never forget what happened that day and the world it helped create.
