THE FIRST DOCUMENTED ENCOUNTER : Ibrahim ibn Jacob – a Jewish Sephardic diplomat, traveler and merchant from Tortosa in the caliphate of Cordoba in Andalusia. He visited the Polish Kingdom lands in mid X century traveling along the main merchandising trail of slaves from Slavonic lands to Cordoba. Etymology of the word slave is a not a coincidence here. In his relation from travel as it was reported by the latter Al-Bekri, Ibrahim ibn Jacob mentioned the kingdom ruled by Mieszko (first Polish king) and the city of Cracow. Tomorrow: 2.
