8/1/14 Appreciations: The music of being human... 1. August. A bold and brassy month, if ever there was one, full of hot air and dry winds, the only dry heat we ever have here in the soggy, boggy lands. Well, we will all sweat our way through it, happily accepting this last bit of solar intensity for this year, this season in decline, giving way to the inevitable - but, never mind about that! 2. The multiple real illusions that we swim in daily/nightly. I try to find them out so I can appreciate them in all their glory. 3. Rhythm. Stuck as we are in our next destination or regrets about what didnt get done, In this go-go society, I think rhythm is an under appreciated aspect. It takes some attention to notice, to cultivate and to savor, but there is a real clarity of purpose once we allow rhythm to crest the surface of our awareness and experience the music our being. 4.
