8 Firefighters attended a Class at Sullivan Fire Station 5. The Class was over fire ground safety, & RIT (Rapid Intervention Team). The Class was taught by Battalion Chief Jim Salka (ret) of the FDNY. Chief Salka was a Firefighter with FDNY for over 30yrs and has written many books and articles on the fire service and the dangers Firefighters face on the job. One of the books written by Chief Salka was first in last out. That saying has been used with in our department many times over the years. We would like to Thank Chief Salka, Sullivan Fire Protection District, & the 8 Firefighters who attended todays Class.
