8. Squeezing Oranges “Squeezing Oranges” is from a story i read around two years ago. In short, it’s a story of persistence. A man and a woman were married, going through a cycle of struggle and disconnect they decided to separate. In separation, by necessity they chose to still live with each other. After some time, the Husband decided he needed to do something that she loved, to attempt to get back in her good graces. He realized how much she had always loved freshly squeezed orange juice in the morning, something he had neglected over the years. So, in the morning, and for many mornings following he left a glass of orange juice on the counter. Every morning he checked after she left to see if she had drunk the juice, and every morning it was the same result. A full glass sitting on the counter where he left it. Just as he was on the verge of giving up altogether, one morning, as he always did he snuck into the kitchen to find the glass empty. Putting faith in a small gesture helped them to come to an understanding. Those moments in life when we find ourselves lost, it’s most important to remember that there’s always a way to get back to the place where we belong.
