80s Flashback: This week in 1982, this hit that reached #1 in The U. S. and #3 in The U. K. in early 1983, was at #37. David Paich of Toto said tbe song was inspired by a late night T. V. documentary about the suffering of the people of Africa. He was very moved by it and imagined what he would do if he were there. The song features some African instrumentation, such as marimba and kalimba, via a synthesizer. The song is one of my personal favorites from the era.
