October 13, 2014 (Waukegan, IL) -- At the conclusion of Sundays 14-hour negotiation session, the District presented its most recent proposal to the Teachers Union and requested the Unions bottom line requirements to return to work. The Union refused to provide its position, thus hindering negotiations from occurring on Monday, October 13. Throughout the day today, the District team has continued to work with the Board of Education on financially feasible options to further address the teachers salary and benefits demands. The Board is committed to further compromise, but must also negotiate to protect the Districts financial health, now and in the future. The negotiating teams will next meet tomorrow at 9:30 am. The Board will provide an update on the proposals at its regularly-scheduled meeting beginning at 7 p.m. on October 14 at the WHS-Brookside Campus, 2325 Brookside Avenue. Schools were scheduled to be closed Tuesday due to an institute day. The institute day has been canceled, but schools remain closed as a result of the ongoing Teachers Union strike.
