8th September: First day in Mongolia. After a freezing night - TopicsExpress

8th September: First day in Mongolia. After a freezing night camping near the border of Mongolia we made it along with wheels of Mongloria, yak in black, Lee and the radical nomadicals to the border. It took us a whole day to get through as only 3 cars were allowed through on the Russian side at a time and only 3 cars again on the Mongolian side as well. This combined with the Mongolian border closing whilst the staff all had lunch meant a lot of time was spent waiting around. At the Russian border we met another rally team ; Bataar or bust. They joined our convoy and after we made it through the border we all headed to ulgii. Just after the Mongolian border we had some roof-rack issues as the corrigation on the Mongolian roads was shaking us to bits in the panda. Thankfully Snorre of Yak in Black gave us some ratchet straps to secure the roof rack. We met some friendly bikers and then made it to ulgii. Here we refuelled and some of the teams camped and some of us stayed in a hotel. We stayed in a hotel as we had some washing to do. Here Yak in Black accidentally locked himself out of his car leading to 3/4 hours of waiting until the locals managed to eventually get his keys out of it. The hotel was pretty rubbish but we managed to get a hot shower and get our washing done and update our blog a little. Lee and ourselves also had a nice turkish meal.
