9-11! Another anniversary. I watched in horror as one of the towers was hit by the second plane while the first was burning from the first plane. I received a call from my sister in-law, Reba Scott, and she informed me that her youngest, Kelan Scott was in Washington at the Senate building on a field trip. Words cannot express her anguish as another plane hit the Pentagon. I remember her words as she said, Ive got to get in touch with Kelan. All I could think about at that time was ,I want my family at home-safe and sound. As I sit here today in the quiet of my home, Ive reflected on the other times my family was in other places as I heard devastating news regarding our Country. While at work in Omaha, NE, Wayne called from the SAC Headquarters telling me a space launch had blown up on take-off. My children were in school and both Wayne and I were at work. My thoughts then were the same. I want my family home-safe and sound. Now as I sit in my home, my children have children and Wayne and I are retired. But its still about the safety and well-being of our family and we are blessed to have them today. So many lost their lives and never made it home. Pictures on walls told the story of lost loved ones. Dust filled the air and Americans were in shock as our Safe Country was under attack. It is a day I will never forget as Im sure you wont either.
