A 1999 study of one hundred of the most popular brands of bottled water showed that a third contained arsenic, trihalomethanes, bacteria, or other contaminants. A fifth contained man-made chemicals, and one contained phthalate at twice the level of acceptable tap water. Two had high levels of fluoride, and two others had coliform bacteria. And if you think bottled water is lead free, think again.
