.......................A.B.I.................... Kashmir News: Pro-Freedom Leaders Including Hurriyat(G) General Secretary Today Visited Shopian, Address Public Gathering....... >> Senior resistance leaders Wednesday visited South Kashmir’s Shopian town which is reeling under complete shutdown for 19th consecutive day since the killings of 5 youth that took place there this month. Hurriyat Conference (G) General Secretary Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Jammu and Kashmir People’s League Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and other Hurriyat leader Muhammad Yousuf Falahee visited the bereaved families of Shopian. Addressing a public gathering, Hurriyat(G) General Secretary Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai said we have laid more than 6 lakh sacrifices for our freedom struggle since 1947 and will continue to raise our voice against the Indian illegal occupation till its logical end. “Incidents like Gagran, Gool and Markundal are not accidental but pre-planned and will continue to occur in this occupied territory till last trooper of India is here,” Sehrai said, adding we strongly condemn the acts of killing innocent college students. “Our strike and struggle is genuine and we have right to live freely.” Commenting on the upcoming elections, Sehrai said, we reject the elections that are being held by Indian government here. “People should refrain from taking part in such processes; they are the killers who are getting money from the killers. We can’t term them representatives; they are only the blood sellers,” Sehrai added. Pertinently, authorities have imposed Section – 144 in the town which will remain in force till 10th of October but it seems they are so far looking helpless to prevent pro-freedom camps to visit Shopian and address public gatherings. People are demanding punishment to the killers and shifting of CRPF camp from the town and have decided to go on strike until the camp is completely removed. Meanwhile clashes broke out during evening hours in some parts of main town Shopian. Police lobbed numerous teargas canisters to chase away the protesters.
