A Brief History of Evangelism. During d first century after Christ, His followers possessed an insatiable zeal and passion to persuade men about Christ. They remebered His promise to return as soon as they preached the Gospel to every creature -as soon all nations had the Gospel preached to them as a witness (Matt. 24:14). But den in 2nd Century, Christianity became entangled in theological controversy. Rather than to keep pressing on to the uttermost parts and to mor religions beyond, they began to argue over doctrinal points. The 3rd Century found d Christians sinking into genuine apostacy. The 4th Century closed d gap and their backsliding and compromise was complete. Christianity was then plunged into 1,000 yrs of awful spiritual darkness- the Dark Ages, and this terible thousand yrs is d veil which has bn separated d Church of today from the New Testament concept...The teachn of d Holy Spirit were nt rediscovered until 20 Century despite Luthers all effort to broke out of darkness. No let think about it, wer in 21st Century, how is d work of Evangelism around u, by u n in ur Church? Ur Church is a product of Evangelism n if she cease to Evangelise, how will she grow? Ur purpose n role in the body of Christ is to Evangelise, but if you quit doing it, how will souls b won for Christ n hw will u say ur obeying the master. May God forgive us all!
