A Bumper Harvest of Testimonies in One Night Most cultures in Ghana observe a one week celebration exactly a week after the demise of a loved one. Mine would have been no different as November 8, 2013 would have marked a week of that near fatal accident. As to why these occasions are tagged a celebration, thats a debate for another day nonetheless for my colleague and I, this tag line is perfect and sits well with us because of the divine experience Im about to share. This piece comes to buttress the need to put premium on the Word as captured in my recent post, the WORD [of God] works and I believe it would encourage you the more in this Christian walk. This genesis of this great testimony was when I decided to join my colleague with whom we share a common office with on a journey to Kumasi after work on November 1, 2013. Our road trip to Kumasi from Tarkwa was through Takoradi and Cape Coast (207.8 miles) and was going to take us 7hrs 12 mins to reach our final destination. Nonetheless, owing to the time we left Tarkwa just about 20:00 hrs GMT and judging from the low traffic presence, it was to be expected that we would arrive much earlier than the normal time. Testimony 1 Our journey from Tarkwa to Cape Coast was a smooth and quick one. At a speed of about 80km per hour just as we entered a sharp curve heading out of Cape Coast, we came headlong with a long trailer truck making an over-taking on another long trailer; taking up all our drive space and leaving no space to swerve to. Ironically instead of the usual fear, panic and wet pants, we were unequivocally calm and all I could say was Jesus is Lord! At this we saw the trailer blaze pass us whilst my colleague was still applying the brakes. Our car slowly grounded to a halt resulting in one deflated front tire. We stared into each other’s our faces and the first words that rolled down my tongue was “we don’t die like chicken in this commission, no we cant!” This was the exact admonishing my Pastor friend kept drumming into our spirits month after month ago. As to how we escaped being minced by this truck still remains a great miracle we simply cannot fathom. Praise God, there is power in the Name of Jesus! We got the tire replaced with a spare which required some little top-up air. We combed the area for a place to top up but understandably we wouldn’t locate one at 22:30 GMT! Knowing this wasn’t possible we simply applied our faith and soldiered on. Testimony 2 About thirty minutes down the stretch we plunged into a deep pothole bringing the car to an abrupt halt. Little did we envisage that the next one hour fifty-eight minutes was going to be spent at the same spot where we had “crash landed” in the middle of a tiny village. Our spare tire was gone and to add insult to injury the tire rim was also damaged as a result of the forceful impact. Yep, it was that same tire we had sacrificed moments ago! Our only visible available help at the moment came in the form of three young men who sat by a partially lit roadside at midnight. One of them had mentioned seeing a vulcanizer’s number posted on one of the shops and led my colleague to fetch them but unfortunately all the numbers were dead so the gentleman left to his home. My colleague returned to the same spot where the young men sat but this time only one remained. As he was about done narrating his disappointment then appeared a lad of about the age of 13, who led him to the vulcanizer’s house which was at the extreme end of the village. As to how on earth a 13-year-old boy could be walking that path at that still remains mind boggling. Then I remember the Bible did speak about ministering angels sent forth to assist the Saved and act out Gods instruction and promises towards them (Heb.1:14). “Wonder boy” led my colleague to knock on the vulcanizer’s door at that hour who willingly agreed to fix our rim and tire. All this while I was confessing His Word from Romans 8:28, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Philippians 4:19 etc! At this juncture as we waited for them to emerge from the darkness, we agreed to do the “Paul and Silas”:- prayer, praise and decrees! As this progressed I heard audibly in my spirit that a mother had prayed passionately for days believing for Gods intervention for GHS 50 which she needed the next day. It was so clear to me why we were at the spot and we knew exactly what to do. They did come back with both tire and rim perfectly mended so we agreed to meet up with the vulcanizer and the lad after we had fixed the tire whilst they go again to fix the other tire. We hurriedly fixed the tire, washed our hands, thanked God with one mind to go for the tire then continue on our journey. Well this intention was short lived because the car wouldnt start! Just a little push and well soon be on our way. Funny! We kept pushing to and fro until our second tire arrived. All hands came on deck including another gentleman who had emerged from a drinking spot near by to assist. After tireless efforts to get the engine screaming again, the vulcanizer mentioned that there was a mechanic shop uphill. So we pushed the car to the heavily dark shop. Countless number of times did the vulcanizer knock on the mechanics door yet to no avail. He then ventured into the dark and a few seconds later come with an old car battery. As to who and how he got that from wasnt really our major concern at the time, all we wanted was to get out of the place. We placed it on the car and with just three pushes, new life had been injected into the car, thanks be to God! Honestly I must confess I was too tried to rationalize the battery bit after I came to myself because the battery was a very old battery and looked like it had been fetched from the trash but then Holy Spirit asked me these questions; who would deliberately leave a functioning car battery sitting outside for just anyone to pick it up? Who could be this careless mechanic who would simply do that? Supposed the owner of the battery just wanted to throw it away, why wouldnt he properly dispose it and more so how many people in that tiny village had the luxury to own cars let alone throw away a working battery? The fact that it was outside might mean it was totally useless to anyone! With this I asked for forgiveness and celebrated Him more, hallelujah! We blessed all of them and directed the GHS 50+ to the lad and vulcanizer according to this revelation I had received and then prayed with the vulcanizer. Check this out, before we moved out on the road again I remember the lad and vulcanizer invoking God Almightys protection through Christ on us, only the two of them did that! Testimony 3 Thinking we had seen it all and that the ‘setbacks’ had come to an end, we might have spoken too soon. Few minutes into our road trip I heard the Spirit say pray in tongues against my body giving in to sleep. The Spirit of God injected a sudden life into my being to instantly wake up just a few seconds shave on the clock as I dosed off. Right in the middle of the road sat a black cow with long horns with its back facing us. Before we could avoid running into it we had already run across that object and had the car’s exhaust pipe split into halves beneath. We both saw ourselves running over this black ruminant! Judging from the events that had unfolded previously that night there was no need questioning and rationalizing things again. The car couldn’t move again unless we had a welder to mend the pipes or have the whole exhaust pipe beneath replaced. The light bulb moment came when the Holy Spirit knocked our heads to use a twine to tactfully tie the pieces together and this twine came from no other place than from the strap of an I.D card. God became this amazing twine holding the pieces together to our final destination at about 04:10 AM in the mighty name of Jesus. Testimony one repeated itself on my way back but this time I was in a bus with my family and my wife’s family and again, the Lord delivered us from being crushed in another sharp curve again. The only thing we lost was our speed because the driver was a bit shaken. This bumper harvest because we believed in God’s Word and His Name, therefore we spoke it! The Lord is our Love-Shepherd who brings us out of calamities in Christ Jesus, I see Him mighty in your affairs also. Amen! PS. I just heard this bit as I was finishing this bit. One of the engagements that weekend in Kumasi was to attend my wifes cousin wedding. She recently told my wife that a revelation came to the pastors that there was going to be an accident of a family member but concealed it from her and they prayed against it. Upon hearing my testimony she was shaken to the bone and thanked God. To God alone be the Glory. This celebration won’t stop now; it would definitely go beyond one week!
