A CALL FOR A RE-UNION AND TAKING OUR POSITIONS TO REFORM THE LEADERSHIP STRUCTURES. Let us Unite our regions as Embu County and give priority to healing the historical wounds that have existent in us. These are the thorn in our flesh that always have crippled our development and there is no way we can become hypocritical on them. Our Skeptical approach to healing these woulds, and the hide and seek game cannot and will not make us one. It is now time to take our positions as a people and embrace our diversity for a meaningful development. It is my view that the Senate should be a house to reconcile our County Governments and not participate in frustrate their efforts to develop the grassroots communities. Thus, the Senate must play a neutral ground in responding to the underlying issues in the Counties without taking a partisan position. The Senate has been seen operating on grounds that may termed to be worrying if any County Government would really be able to exercise their implementation of the development plan. This is because, there seems to be a marriage between the senate and the County Assemblies that is being consummated within the law and whose validity is yet to be verified by the National Assembly. It seems that the Senate has almost taken the place of independent Organs like Judiciary to determine legalities of County Governments thus creating an inconsistency within the law. The Senate must be able to operate within the law and be to the best interest of the County Governments co-agenda which is to devolve services to the common mwananchi. Therefore, I think that we as the people of Embu can start preparing ourselves to embrace change and reforms of structures for leadership and governance of our people. At this time as we look ahead to the remaining period of this term, let be focused to creating a leadership that is not short sighted, a Leadership that is able to counteract greed for power and a Leadership that can naturally entrench Unity of our diverse ethnic setting to bring about the regional balance and harmonious living. We must give priority to end our rivalry between Mbeere and Embu Communities and this can be easily achieved when we incorporate other minority communities to play a role in diffusing this historical vice. Let us look at each other as brothers and sisters, and together bear the same burden of the suffering we all go through as we try to make life bearable in our very challenging region. There is no person within us who should see the other as their enemy or rival. Rather, let us agree to cease the rivalry that has existent between us and which was created by our politics. We need to own this as part of our weakness of the systems and out of this weakness translate the systems into a more inclusive one for all to partake. At the time of settlements, we all settled on this region as one family, but because of greed for power, our forefathers created rivalry that has resulted to the menace that we have experience throughout generations. This has created a negative image of us, because as GODs TRUTH STANDS, we are all created by Him with equal opportunities and in the same image and likeness. Thus, we can comfortably use our Christian Majority to diffuse this menace on negative ethnicity with UNITY OF PURPOSE BASED ON OUR RELIGIOUS BELIEF SYSTEMS. Finally, I would like to ask my fellow young men and women of this County, let us now accept that we are the best generation to end all rivalry that exist between our communities. We ourselves speak one language that we have developed -sheng,- We wear differently, we walk different styles from our ancient, we live as one in our towns and cities, and we know no boundary. Why then must we allow ourselves to be pulled into these evils that we can easily bring to an end? God want us to think carefully on our role in healing our society. We have grown in these evils and we know them, but we have the power and potential to shun them. We engage in ball games, diverse talents and we have education,. If then the education that we are receiving cannot lead us out of these ancient evils of our past, then we do not have the meaning of life. We cannot be the people to propagate negative ethnicity on social media and other forums yet we can stop it! It is so bitter if our next generation will receive these negativity from us. i am personally not ready to allow my generation to pass over these evils into the next generation. Because of our ignorance, we have been manipulated by the political class to cause instability of peace for our region, and also we have been abused to elect bad leadership into power. Now we are crying because our leaders are becoming lawless and are disobeying the rule of law. We do not have employments and we are the first people to be used as shields to defend the messes done by the irresponsible leaders. Friends, I think we are wrong! I must strongly tell you that we need to change the mindset and rediscover our potentials to reposition the politics of our region. LET US UNITE OURSELVES AND SWALLOW THE BITTER HERB OF DEPARTING FROM THE PAST TO FACE BOTH THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE AS RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS, THIS IS THE CHANGE WE WANT! DR. KITHEKA MUMO - EMBU 2017
