A Christian must always seek to improve the world in relative - TopicsExpress

A Christian must always seek to improve the world in relative terms, but never in absolute terms. Trying to improve the world in relative terms simply means that you seek to make life better for people around you through personal care. Trying to improve the world in absolute terms is an entirely different kettle of fish. Improving the world in absolute terms means imposing global systems on everyone through the use of politics. Politics necessarily involves the alliance of good with a degree of evil. Truth must be diluted so as not to interfere with expediency. Power systems emerge that become ends in and of themselves. Truth ultimately becomes the main enemy. History has consistenly demonstrated that man can only do harm by trying to improve the world in absolute terms. The reason for this is that although we can change the way we treat those around us, we cannot change human nature. Only by the Divine judgment of man, can this world ever be truly improved
