A Christmas thank you to the Volunteers at our Fort Scratchley Historical Society. Having played here as a child I was lucky enough to fire one of the big guns last month. Volunteer guides put in thousands of hours to showcase our unique Fort. Fort Scratchley has two natural features-Height offered a lookout of the area; and seams of coal around its base. The big guns are fired on important days such as Australia Day weekend, Anzac Day, June long weekend (anniversary of the shelling of Newcastle on 8th June at 2.17 am)
