A Cloud on the Horizon The prophet Elijah, challenged to - TopicsExpress

A Cloud on the Horizon The prophet Elijah, challenged to end a devastating drought in Israel, turned to God in prayer. Periodically he would send his servant to check the horizon, and again and again the report was that the sky was still relentlessly clear. Finally the discouraged servant reported that all he could see was a tiny, meaningless cloud “the size of a man’s fist.” Elijah, far from being discouraged, realized at once that the inevitability of divine law had been set in motion. He declared success, ended his prayer efforts, hitched up his robe and raced for town, ahead of the raindrops he knew would follow. And, of course, follow they did and the drought was at an end. Our own efforts to manifest good in our lives can effectively follow the same format. We affirm Truth in prayer, periodically asking our five senses, which are meant to be our servants, if the Good we claim has yet been manifest. At the first hint of evidence — the small cloud on the horizon — we relax our efforts and focus on thanking God that thoughts held in mind produce after their kind. The more immersed in faith we allow ourselves to become, the more readily we can claim our Good on the slightest of sensory evidence, knowing that God’s Law of Abundance cannot fail us. Today I pause to welcome every small sign of God’s love and abundance, harbingers of the greater Good that is always unfolding in my life. Thank You, God. Amen.
