A Conversation with Jesus by, Jeffrey Wm. Cotnoir 2014 Jesus: “Jeff-er-ey…” Me: “Yes Lord?” Jesus: “What have you given me today?” Me: “The very first thing this morning I gave you my thanks for seeing me through another night; Thanks for all of Your blessings. And praised you for keeping me sober another day. Later, I wrote a poem for your kids to read, hoping they would look to you. I did my job the best I could so you would be proud. Many prayers, Lord. I gave you many prayers asking for your strength, consolations for my friends, healing for my family, guidance to get through all my problems.” Jesus: “Jeffrey!” Me: “Yes Lord?” Jesus: “What did you give to me today?” Me: “Oh! I’m sorry, Lord. I gave you a hard time a little because one of my friends died and I thought you were being unfair. I guess I gave you a piece of my mind.” Jesus: “Jeffy...” Me: “Oh, Dear Lord, What?” Jesus: “What did you give me today?” Me: “Honestly? Again? What could I possibly give you that you don’t already own? You have made everything. Everything is already yours! Why do you keep asking me what I’ve given you? I gave you my thanks, I’ve given you everything I have and everything I’ve done and everything I’ve made. I gave you my wants and my needs. I even gave you my bad attitude. You can have anything, Lord. Anything at all. Just take it! God, what more do you want from ME?” Jesus: “Jeff, my precious child, I long for you to give to me the one thing which I made and cannot take back on my own.” Me: “What is it that You, the God of the universe and author of all life want that you, yourself, can’t take?” Jesus: “Just your heart, Jeff. Just your heart.”
