A DIRTY TRICK: I was a guest speaker in Arcadia, Florida several years ago, and my housing arrangements were to stay with a pleasant young couple and their five year old. I loved staying with them and visiting with them, but the little boy got the idea that i was a threat to his being the center of the attention. For no reason he would just come up and kick me in the shin with his cowboy boots. Ouch! I soon developed a defense. With peripheral vision, Id watch him like a hawk, and when he drew back for a kick on my shin, I would elevate my hard soled shoes so that he was striking his shin against the sole of my foot. He acted as if that wasnt fair. Ha! He tried to catch me off guard, and every time I was ready for him. I talked kindly to him about kid stuff, and acted as if nothing ever happened. We became friends before long, and his parents thanked me for helping them. God bless us, sometimes things work out just right!
