A Day On The Farm… Alarm clock going - get up early get me clothes on - down the Purley Cash the giro - catch the bus benefit office - cause a fuss hours waiting - no point here I think Ill go - and buy some gear Score a henry - fags and skins back to my house - day begins smoke a joint - start to think put some dishes - in the sink Go to Nisa - grab some grub to the market - then the pub meet some mates - have a moan no work, no cash - Im not alone scan the papers - for a job need to earn - a couple of bob see the advert - phone it - great from Marsh Farm? - Im sorry mate Try some more - a few more numbers this wont work - Im still in lumber Pick the kids up - from the school then back home - the daily rule they sit down - for kids tv spaghetti bolognese for tea Kids play out - till it gets dark fell in dogshit - in the park Off to bed - now theyre asleep dozing off - then beep beep beep whats that noise - outside the door beep beep beep - it goes once more through the curtains - looking out loads of coppers - start to shout a helicopter - flying over following - a stolen Rover noise gets louder - neighbours out all were woken - by the shout then the roar - of twisting rotor just to grab - a stolen motor 3 o clock - its back to sleep Alarm clock going - beep beep beep It cant be half past six already Im still worn out - I feel unsteady Now Im tired - feeling vexed doorbell goes - whatever next through the curtains - peek outside man with suit on - have to hide he knocks again - but I stay still Hes still outside - must be old bill only they - would come this early slip out the back - go down the Purley wait around - for half an hour then sneak back home - jump in the shower No more money - giro spent bought food, electric - paid the rent No bus fare - to get to town under pressure - feeling down Start to walk - through the estate bumped into – another mate Walked to Marsh House - had a look read a Marsh Farm history book Start to think – it’s good in here Friendly people – foods not dear Have a chat – with a bloke called Mick Who makes some music – proppa sick I love the tunes – they make me smile feel better now – I’ll stay a while chat with Lou – then meditate I hear of plans - for my estate It changed my day – my head was filled With hopes, ideas - and a plan to build I rushed off home – and talked all night About my day at the Marsh House site And now I’ve got– a place to go And a job perhaps…you never know…
