A Democratic state lawmaker in Illinois calls an African-American Republican lawmaker a half African-America. Wow. This on the heels of that Representative in Alabama who offered $100k for proof that whites are willing to adopt African-American children then doubled down when proof was provided. Legislators have a responsibility to watch what they say and treat all people with respect - even if the middle of a hot debate. Im certainly not perfect so Ill pull the beam out of my own eye before trying to pull the splinter out of these peoples eye, however, these divisive comments with racial overtones are not productive.
