A Fan Club In Need Is a Pest #1: AJ Steele vs. Nigel Sherrod By Paul Arrand Rodgers I know what yall are thinking. You think its all over for the Elite Revolution. That their reign atop SFCW is at an end. That Richard Kiker is going to close the show mispronouncing Nigels name like hes some nobody, some bum, some has-been, waving him out the door as the former Southern Fried Heavyweight Champion. Yall think AJ Steele is leaving the show tomorrow night with fifteen pounds of gold around his waist. You couldnt be more wrong. First, the SFCW Heavyweight Championship is *at least* a solid 25 pounds. Ive held it. Its heavy. Most of you probably cant lift that much weight, but Ive been hitting the gym, Ive been doing my DDP Yoga, Ive been doing kettlebell exercises on YouTube, and brother, when Nigel let me hold the belt for him I *still* almost wasnt man enough. Its the real deal, baby. Second, AJ Steele, though I used to respect the man, isnt worthy to run in the company Nigel Sherrod keeps. I used to think differently. I used to look at AJ Steele as a man who spoke truthfully and honestly, who looked at the unjust ways of the SFCW booking comitteee and the biases of many of you on this forum and called you and Charles William Anschutz out for the bullies you so often are, but when I look at AJ Steele now, all I see is a man who is too soft to be champion. Thats right, too soft. I was there last month, watching AJ put the boots to Drew Adler, thinking that, finally, Mr. Sherrod might have some game competition for his SFCW Championship. When he won, I stood up and gave him the ovation that he deserved. But then he took the microphone and closed the show by praising you, the Southern Fried fans, for being you. It was a sincere speech, an honest gesture to each and every single one of you... ...and it made me absolutely sick. Ever since AJ Steele debuted in SFCW, youve booed him. Yelled unconscionable things at him from the seats. Challenged him to fights that you knew you couldnt win. A few of you have gone so far as to trying to alert the referee to illegal tactics he may or may not have used, which, could the Legendary Wolfman hear, would have directly compromised AJs ability to pay his bills and feed his family. You *hated* this man, and he *thanked* you for it. Nigel Sherrod has never thanked a fan a day in his life. You dont pay his bills. You dont pick up his considerable tab at the bar. When you see him walking down the street, you dont bow to him, nor do you bask in his glory. You owe him that much, but you dont give it to him, and in return Nigel Sherrod has nothing to give for you. The day he starts sucking up to us fans in the stands is the day the sun stops shining and the earth goes cold and the crops go bad and... well, you get the picture. It takes a ruthless man to be the Southern Fried Heavyweight Champion. Nigel Sherrod is a ruthless man surrounded by ruthless men. He might not be as big as AJ Steele. He may not be as strong as AJ Steele. But hes got his pride, which is what Steele sacrificed when he started thanking all of you, and hes got his wits. Boo Nigel Sherrod all you want, but tomorrow night when yall are sucking wind at ringside and Nigel is running laps around AJ, I expect you to give Mr. As Seen on TV the respect he has earned from us. Its time to pay homage to the man.
