A God Who Listens—Really Listens! 2 Chronicles 30:27 “The priests and Levites had the last word: they stood and blessed the people. And God listened, listened as the ascending sound of their prayers entered his holy heaven” 2 Chronicles 30:27 (MSG). Perhaps my favorite characteristic of God, and one that’s an often-repeated theme throughout the pages of the Bible, is the fact that God listens—really listens—to the cries of His people. This God, Who is King over everything, takes the time to listen when His people cry out to Him; and not only does He listen, but He answers their prayers—before they even finish praying: “I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking to me about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!” Isaiah 65:24 (NLT). Of all the beautiful things that our God does for us, simply taking the time to listen to our every prayer has got to be one of the most beautiful pictures the Bible paints of our loving, caring, listening heavenly Father. So don’t ever think that your prayers aren’t making it past the ceiling; don’t ever believe the devil’s lies that God is too busy to hear your prayers or that He simply does not care, because we know that’s just not true; and we know this because God Himself says so in His Love Letter to us—His Holy Word, the Bible. ~Randy & Trena Reed
