A Government of National Unity Today marks another turn in Zambian politics, UNIP is still at the pivot position to offer advice on the course of action the Nation is to take, As for most of us in UNIP, there is no bases to support Comrade Tilyenji Kaunda’s desire to take part in this Presidential By- election. That’s why we have come up with the political wing within UNIP, we are calling UNIP ACTIVE. The aim of this wing will be to bring back the energy in the party we love. It’s of National importance that peace, unity and national integrity is maintained at all times. After fifty years of independence, there should be no room for tribalism and regionalism, therefore the time is upon us to mend the fences and come together for the greater good of our nation, Zambia. On behalf of UNIP members, UNIP ACTIVE, would like to make the following solutions on the state of the nation today. 1. That, All political parties, large and small, come together to form a grand coalition to support a single candidate in the forth presidential by-election, this is because no political player is strong enough to have a credible government in place. 2. That, the grand coalition will form a government of national unity, to provide a road map on the enactment of the new Constitution, right to information bill and the public order act review. 3. That, all political stakeholders including the Non-profit organizations, the Churches and the general public, to participation in the process of forming a Government of National Unity. In conclusion, UNIP ACTIVE indorses these as the only just and credible solutions to guarantee peace and unity in the nation. May the Lord be with us.. Press statement issued by Mrs Beatrice M.
