“A Great Wind Barricade” By Captain Chris Owner/President Another cooler weather favorite of mine that also consists of San Antonio Bay shell is the Welder Ranch shoreline. It can provide a great barricade to nagging fall winds and it is a great place for anglers wishing to drift-fish with plastic baits dangled beneath rattling corks. Equally as good for wintertime drifters are the reefs situated near the Victoria Barge Canal, the shell bottom that occupies the lower end of Shoalwater Bay near the opening into San Antonio Bay, and over the reefs near Grass Island? A hint that’s been helpful to me throughout the years when fishing these locations during cooler weather is that I’ve found it to be very important for me to always try to find unstained water in these places, especially during those periods when a northeast wind is present. Fish Bite Hard Right Now Great two days with BRH one of Bay Flats Lodge great customers and these boys do it in style! Solid limits of trout both today and yesterday along with a good showing of drum and they are ready for some family fun at a fish fry! October has been on fire with fish on the reefs with presentations from soft plastic lures and live shrimp...no wonder I always say October is the best month to fish for both the novice and the seasoned angler because the fish bite hard right now! Tight Lines. Captain Stephen Boriskie.
