A Greens Supporter of the Condamine Six years ago my partner - TopicsExpress

A Greens Supporter of the Condamine Six years ago my partner and I moved to Nobby, South of Toowoomba. It was a massive change for us both having previously lived in Brisbane, Melbourne and Paris, although we both have childhood connections to the country. I grew up in Toowoomba and Joe has many Italian relatives on farms near Swan Hill in Victoria. I now study creative writing, although my background is in architectural and urban design. I joined the Greens as they best represent my values of social justice and care for the environment. Short-term thinking is destroying this country, our land, with its plants and creatures, our water, air, communities and cities. Without water, there is no agriculture and no food. Here in the Condamine, the mining industry is endangering some of the most fertile and well-watered agricultural land in Australia. This is sheer lunacy. Being a home gardener, I have come to realise just how much knowledge, skill and care it takes to grow food. Our farmers deserve support. Globally, we face both increasing human populations and declining water and food producing resources as the result of Climate Change. As custodians of our land, long-term and evidence based planning is essential to flourish in the 21st century. Thankyou so much Louise!
