“A Headline” I woke up one morning and read a headline. It - TopicsExpress

“A Headline” I woke up one morning and read a headline. It said some people had died and that some war had begun. I went along my day and so, the tale unspun. These people were not soldiers. They were mailmen and teachers and folks like you and me, just doing their thing maybe having a tea. “Airstrikes in Gaza.” Because of a need to defend? From the rockets of jihadists? From all that I read, these headlines are dishonest … I force into your Home, I beat your family down, kill the greatest of your sons, and rape your daughters on the ground. While you plead for Justice screaming! I will drown out your sound. with the pleadings of my own and my bombs dropping on the ground! So all alone you’d stand with rocks and stones in your hands. Doing all you can Rightfully, fighting for your land! So these headlines that I’ve read are counting up the dead but I don’t think people are reading the words that are said. War crimes! Civilians! Doctors crying! Reporters dieing! ONE THIRD OF THE DEAD ARE CHILDREN….. and the death toll is rising! So I asked a friend of mine, Aren’t we supporting this? Isn’t this on our dime? But more to the point, where is Justice for the crime? We can’t keep excusing, this happens all the time! Why is everybody as silent as a mime? For crispy cream doughnuts zombies waiting in a line!? The call to help Our Brothers not worth a minute of their time? Still every morning seeing headlines Of Our broken mothers… weeping and crying? I woke up One morning, read a headline. agge (s.j. bonadonna) 8/4/14
