A LITTLE FOOD FOR THOUGHT Hello Central Florida and to my friends around the U.S. -- you know my thoughts on CHILDREN HUNGRY IN AMERICA and I know how Caring and supportive the local Bands, Bars and Businesses are, in our area and throughout the U.S.. FOOD DRIVE CHALLENGE With that said, the holidays are here and THE SECOND HARVESTERS FOOD BANK SUPPLIES ARE LOW. So, I would like to throw down a Food Drive Challange and ask local communities (here and around the U.S.) to help families in need. HUNGER HURTS We’ve all missed a meal at one time or another; but think about the pain and fear of having no food, no money to buy food, and no prospects for a solution to either problem. Think also about the pain that you would endure if you saw your loved ones hungry and had no way to feed them, because you have rent and utilities to pay. 9 million children or 12.1% of children live in households with food insecurity. This number does not include Vets or the Homeless living in America. Food Banks support those who cannot afford food and they depend on donations and Its not too late. Putting a drive together does not require much: A flyer, A box for food items, collection, and delivery. WHAT CAN WE DO? 1) Individuals: Find your Local Second Harvester location and drop off food items. 2) Monetary donations can be done directly on their secured site. *SCHOOLS: Parents Talk to your children and organise a Food drive at their schools *AT WORK Start a food drive at Work BARS, BANDS AND BUSINESSES ADVERTISE An EVENT on Your FACBOOK PAGE •Bands—Ask your Bars to Help Support your drive •Bars, ask your Guest Bands to Post on their “Gig” Day. • **If you are a Patron and going out to shows-- Take a non Perishable Food Item with you. What Would it take to share just one can of food, or a box of Cheerios from your cupboard? Paying it forward, my friends, can be PRICELESS to a hungry Family!
