A LONG WAY DOWN (2014) Four strangers meet in the unlikeliest of scenarios. Each of them has something in common. They wanna kill themselves by jumping off the top of the same skyscraper. Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette, Aaron Paul and Imogen Poots play the suicidal foursome who find that together they are stronger together. I liked how the movie slowly unravels why each of them are wanting to kill themselves. It takes its time and allows for each actor to explore their disgraced character. My favorite moment is when Brosnan comes to pieces on the balcony to Aaron Pauls character. This is a side of Brosnan I havent seen since Evelyn. His revelation is shocking and it peals away a new side of the actor. Paul and Poots just finished Need for Speed when they did this movie so their chemistry was already in tact. Unlike the foursome, the movie isnt more solid as a whole. The movie drags and each character study isnt as engaging as the next. The direction is flat.
