A Letter from the President and Chairman of the Board of Liberty Church: Dear Liberty Church, I am reaching out to you with a prayerful heart, and trusting that God is blessing you and the ones that you love in a profound way. As we embark on a new church year, we look back at an unprecedented year in Liberty’s journey. From the departure of a beloved pastor of 20 years to the reunification of the two campuses, we have and are facing many challenges. I grieve along with you as we celebrated our last service in Worcester on September 7th, and said goodbye to another pastor and beloved church staff. These are difficult times and very difficult decisions. While I would love to say the we are finished with change in this coming church year, I believe we are called to continue to be open to the changes that God has for Liberty Church and for our lives as individuals as I truly believe he is preparing us for greater things in this new beginning. The Pastors and Executive Board of Liberty Church are calling on all congregants to be in deep prayer and reverence as a body and open our hearts for what the Holy Spirit has in store for us. We have kicked off our “Surge 21,” twenty-one days of prayer and fasting as we prepare to receive our initiative for 2014-2015. We are praying for “Awakening” of the Gifts that God has in store for us. In the coming months, the Executive Board will be working closely with the church membership to update our governance and by-laws to improve communication and transparency in all aspects of our ministry and operations. These changes will include increasing the membership of the executive board to insure wider representation and participation of our church members that feel called to serve in these important leadership roles. We ask you, the congregation, to plug into your church at every level. If you are not a paper member, please take this opportunity to become a paper member and allow your voice to be heard in the decision making process. Plug into ministries, connect with your fellow congregants, learn their names, and extend the love of Christ at every opportunity. Regarding ministry leadership, now that we have resolved our most pressing financial challenges through the recent reorganization and placing for sale our Worcester properties, all of our focus is now on ministry. We continue forward in our “Team-Preaching” model however the rotations will be less frequent with more sermon series. This will allow the congregation to get into a rhythm and allow our pastors gifts to be fully demonstrated for the glory of God. The Executive Board is open to the emergence of a Lead Pastor within the team model and we are in prayer as we seek the Lord’s guidance moving forward. Finally, I want to assure you that through this difficult phase of our journey, our trust in God has not wavered and our confidence that together we will emerge a stronger congregation is unshaken. My love for you Liberty has also deepened as I have witnessed your love for Christ and this church rise above all other emotions that could distract us from God’s vision of Bridging Gaps, Repairing Breaching, and Reconciling People back to God… “Loving People to Life” is who we are and what we do. Join us as together we do great things through Christ who strengthens us. Respectfully, -Danny Canton
