A Little Tuesday Pep-Talk... The fact that a person is even a Professor with a string of degrees tied to his waist does not mean in any way that everything he says or does is always rational and superior. Our forefathers had no tertiary degrees - well, save the ones that life chose to bestow upon them. Obierika in Things Fall Apart definitely had no tertiary degree. For us to tie wisdom and logicality to academic qualifications is uber-dumb and typically Nigerian, I must confess. So, when next you run into that man or woman with a CV that is as voluminous as the Bible or the Holy Quran, do not be intimidated by all that jazz. Wait for the person to speak or act before you choose where to place the person - on a pedestal or a dark corner in your esteem-room. There is more to a person than anything which an institution can be confer upon him. Go ask Dominus Jesus or the Prophet Muhammed. Selah.
