A MAN CALLED ME Who is he this man called me? Does he know what he will find When this mystery that he calls me Begins slowly to unwind? What will truth and freedom be When he seeks to find out who is me? Who is he and what is mine? Do things I gather close to me Define the man that I should be? False truths and lies abound within When he knows not What belongs to him? Like the coffee stains upon a page I’m reminded of a hidden rage That swirled within this frame called me. Like a picture that was meant to be Is that the man that I call me Or is that the man that others see? So who is he this man called me All wrapped up in what used to be? Afraid of life and what it brings So to the past he grasps and clings Afraid of what he might see When he discovers who is me. In my search for me I tried to see Who really is this man called me. In truth I found so much more Then what I found when I searched before. For I chose a different road to plod And instead of me I searched for God. And as I searched I began to see Just a glimpse at first of this man called me. Not the shell that I once was, But one that’s filled with purpose and cause.
