A MOTHERS DAY MESSAGE... In my business life, I find myself constantly faced with clients who are dealing with the daily stresses thats a part of having elderly parents; illnesses, food shopping, doctors visits, programming remotes, hearing the same story over & over again, financial issues, housekeeping etc. Very often I will interrupt these conversations with a simple, Boy I sure wish I could have those problems! Theres a story about a single Mom who one day left a note for her son before she went to work that read, Clean the house, mow the lawn, rake the leaves, do the laundry. When she came home everything was done and there was a note left for her. Mom, cleaned the house, $5...raked the leaves, $5...mowed the lawn, $5...did the laundry, $5...Mom, you owe me $20. She then wrote her own note back to him...Carrying you for 9 months, no charge...Staying up all night with you when you were sick, no charge. Just did it because I love you. Lets go ahead this Mothers day and salute our Mothers by going out and loving someone without expecting anything in return! Show somebody a love like a mothers love, and celebrate that special way they loved us! If your Mom is alive, call her, talk with her, and spend some time with her if you can. Quit focusing on the couple of things she may have done wrong (cause shes also human, like the rest of us), and focus on ALL of the things she did right! As Maya Angelou said, No matter what you have going on now, youre gonna miss them when their gone, TRUST ME ON THAT ONE! And if your Mom is not with you, try not to be sad. I love a phrase by Dr. Seuss that comes to my mind every time I think about my late wife & mother, Dont cry because its over, just simply smile because it happened. To all the Mothers out there, thank you for blessing us, thanks for loving us. And to my own wife & mother, every time I reach for the phone to call you and tell you something, and realize that you now have a heavenly phone number, I dont get sad, I just smile because it happened.
