A Minstrel’s Delight Western Vocal Workshop Saturday, March 15th 6:30pm Sandre Hall, Calcutta School of Music 6B Sunny Park, Kolkata 700019 Proper vocal training and technique is a must for any aspiring singer in any category of music. The Calcutta School of Music presents a workshop by Diganta Choudhury to present many of the aspects of singing. Diganta is an extremely talented and qualified musician – being an opera artist, pianist and vocal coach. He is the founder of the Delhi Vocal Ensemble and former faculty of the Delhi School of Music. WORKSHOP CONTENTS Physical Exercises – To identify the various parts of the body which could help in optimising sound production (Breathing Exercises / Relaxation exercises). Technical Work - This will deal with technical aspects like pitching / timbre / clarity of sound / working with dipthongs / trithongs / vowels and consonants and also identifying sections and sound spaces in the mouth cavity through exercises which would be shared with everyone together. Duet / Trio session - The participants would individually work on tonal colour texture, interpretation and delivery. Performance – The participants would be performing the song taken up in the prior sections after it has been worked through with the pianist.
